Night Markets夜市

1. Keelung Night Market 基隆夜市

Fried oyster with duck egg... and the sauce that the local hawkers were proud of!

Mutton soup with danggui - Tasty, however it was a bit too oily...

Butter crab was one highlight of this stall!
For 300 NTD, we had a mix of shells (er... snails(?), lala (clams?) and oysters!

BBQ-ing the shells :)

Nice tasty BBQ butter crab :)

300NTD worth of shells :)

2. Fengjia Night Market 逢甲夜市
Actually, we did not eat at the night market. Instead, we went to the nearby street and had hot pot as well as dessert at some decent shops :)

Pretty nice paste for the ostrich meat :)

The 'dual' pot, one side for soup, the other to fried the meat.

A generous serving of vegetables and other bean-made stuff (like dou-pok and dou-fu)

Cooking! Cooking! Cooking! Vegetables & and nicely marinated ostrich meat...

Red bean tou-huay. Cold and nice!

3.  Ximending 西门町
Had a generous serving of sashimi in one of the shops at Ximending

Not the ordinary salmon with rice. It's salmon belly! Yummy yummy :P

The steam egg came with lots of things! Prawn, clam, fish, chicken, meat and mushroom! Tasty :)

One of those 'stalls' on the street... pretty unique way of displaying and 'transporting' the goods!

 Roadside stall...

Sticks of fruits coated with agar-agar... They looked good and attractive under the lights.
However, I lost my appetite or desire to try when I saw how the stall holder handled these sticks :(

White bittergourd! Wah! What a huge prop to go with the stall!

Nice juice when mixed with honey (and presumeably orange juice)!

4.Shilin Night Market 士林夜市

Fruit stall at the road side

The so-called tempura... er... fish paste indeed... but they tasted more starchy than expected.

Common in the night market

A bowl of dou-huay in red bean soup, mixed with some yam balls (that don't quite taste yam!)

Small 'intestine' wrapped in big 'intestine' 大肠包小肠 - it's actually meat sausage wrapped in glutinous rice (wrapped as a sausage).

The food centre opposite the outdoor night market... with a variety of food (that resembled what's available in the outdoor night market).

The gigantic chicken fillet! There's a long queue at this stall...
Notice that it welcomes potential overseas partners! Wow! A way to 'expand' its business :)
